Mallsoft is, as you might expect, heavily inspired by the muted, echoing sounds of pop music lazily playing through ancient shopping mall loudspeakers.

Keeping with the theme, Mallsoft tracks feature very heavy use of reverb to emulate the sound of empty malls, and may even have the subtly haunting sounds of distant shoppers.

The subgenre was pioneered by Disconscious' seminal release Hologram plaza, and has remained a niche yet important part of Vaporwave's sonic makeup.
