Hourglass Timer (Banjo-Kazooie)

The Hourglass Timer (A. banjocazuus I. Suc.) is a particulate hourglass appearing in the 1998 video game Banjo-Kazooie.

Summary

The Hourglass Timer functions as a timer in various worlds throughout Banjo-Kazooie.

Upon activating a certain trigger, the hourglass will appear at the bottom-left corner of the screen and begin counting down in seconds, which are displayed separately in Arabic Numerals. The player must complete a certain task before this timer runs out to achieve various goals.

Appearance

The Hourglass Timer is a typical sand hourglass with two clear blue glass bulbs and dark wooden caps on each end. The material within appears to be yellow silicate sand.

When on screen, the hourglass will spin constantly, flipping over and shifting the sand from the top bulb to the bottom bulb in approximately one second.
